Defense counsel for Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani shifted focus away from the former Theranos executive and toward the Silicon Valley company’s founder, Elizabeth Holmes, and its scientific team on Tuesday as Balwani’s criminal wire fraud trial draws to a close.

During his second day of closing statements in San Jose federal court, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe’s Jeffrey Coopersmith questioned the credibility of several government witnesses, asserting that one former Theranos lab director repeatedly lied on the stand.
