Vote.org has hired its first general counsel, the San Francisco-based nonprofit announced Wednesday.

It’s a first for both Vote.org, which aims to boost civic engagement via technology, and new GC Sarah Jackel, who has never worked in-house before. As the nonprofit’s first legal hire, she’ll lead Vote.org’s legal operations, including compliance, contracts and litigation.
