The vote to elect the First Judicial District’s president judge is less than two weeks away, and two candidates are openly running for the leadership role.

Judges Stella Tsai and Nina Wright Padilla are campaigning for the position, which includes some oversight responsibilities as well as duties acting as the face of the largest court system in the state. Whichever judge is elected to the position will replace Judge Idee Fox, who is planning to retire at the end of the year. The role comes with a five-year term.
