Former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, who now runs security and risk management consultancy The Chertoff Group, advocates that law firms prioritize building defense architecture around their computer networks to ward off cyberattacks.

Chertoff, also a former judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, addressed cyberthreats at both the law firm level and beyond during a “fireside chat” Thursday at the Third Circuit Judicial Conference. His firm was recently engaged by the U.S. Supreme Court to review its investigation into the leak of the Dobbs decision curtailing abortion rights.
