A dispute over whether the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas properly consolidated COVID-related business insurance lawsuits has given the Pennsylvania Supreme Court an opportunity to wade into the ways local courts consolidate statewide litigations.

On Thursday, the justices agreed to take up appeals in the cases HTR Restaurants v. Erie and Tambellini v. Erie, agreeing to consider whether the Superior Court last year improperly halted efforts to bring all the business interruption litigation against Erie Insurance into a single venue.
