The council studies the court system in Texas and looks for methods to improve while also investigating and reporting on court system matters referred to the council. Caughey’s term would expire June 30, 2027. 

Caughey, a partner in Jackson Walker’s Houston office, previously served as a Justice on Texas’ First Court of Appeals in Houston. At Jackson Walker, she represents clients in complex matters in state and federal courts. She handles high-stakes commercial litigation, with a focus on appeals. She has particular expertise in issues involving statutory and contractual interpretation, constitutional law, health-care, insurance, energy, administrative law, and professional liability.
