Profile: Johnson is a corporate attorney who focuses on acquisitions and mergers, and once acted as Assistant counsel to Gov. Christopher J. Christie. Through his work, he helps businesses expand their markets and establish a presence in their area. Johnson represents public and private companies, commercial banks, and governmental agencies. During his two-year stint as assistant counsel of the New Jersey Office of the Governor, Johnson was involved in redrafting and passing two important legislations: the NJ Person Injury Protection (PIP) Law to help curb the rising cost of auto insurance in the state of New Jersey, and the Out of State Winery License for Direct Ship Wine Sales to New Jersey Law. At Gibbons, Johnson is a member of the Business and Networking Group of the Gibbons Diversity Initiative (GDI), designed to create a more diverse attorney workforce. Johnson also handles M&A transactions for numerous clients, has helped Gibbons represent Rowan Univ. in the absorption of the Univ. of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and has assisted in the firm’s role as special counsel to Rowan Univ. for the issuance of $56,570,000 Camden County Improvement Authority Lease Revenue Refunding Bonds. He has also helped numerous private companies with disputes over licensing with federal and state governmental authorities, and also assisted the U.S. subsidiary of a Canadian parent in a refinance of a credit facility by reviewing the loan documents associated with the transaction. In addition, Johnson has also counseled individuals who have lost their home due to Hurricane Sandy pro bono and helped draft numerous health-care agreements with the Compassionate Care Network of New Jersey. Johnson also played professional basketball for the Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors.
