New Jersey midsized firm Genova Burns has lost 12 attorneys over the past month, an exodus that multiple sources say has been spurred by succession planning difficulties.

Most recently, a group of eight attorneys left to start their own shop, PEM Law, including election attorney Raj Parikh and two former practice chairs from Genova Burns, Kathleen Barnett Einhorn and Charles Messina. Three firm practice leaders, including human resources counseling and compliance chair Dina Mastellone, employment law and litigation group chair John Petrella and Occupational Safety and Health Administration chair Douglas Solomon, moved to Jackson Lewis on March 15, and privacy and cybersecurity practice chair Harris Freier left Genova Burns to join Ogletree Deakins the day prior.
