A settlement of $5.35 million was reached in Martins v. Corino on June 10 for a former officer with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Agency who was permanently injured when his motorcycle was hit by a car driven by an employee of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

On July 4, 2017, Pedro E. Martins, then 38 years old, was two blocks from home when he proceeded through a green light. The defendant, Luigi Corino, was making a left turn when he crashed into Martins. The car Corino was driving belonged to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, said Martin’s attorney, James M. Foerst of Millburn’s Spector Foerst & Associates.
