Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, one of the largest law firms on Long Island, has added six corporate and transactional attorneys, including four partners, in its largest acquisition to date.

The new hires at the Uniondale-based firm include partners Steven Kuperschmid, Peter Marullo, Russell Stern and Gavin Grusd; of counsel Neil Novikoff; and associate Adam Sosnik. All six previously practiced at SilvermanAcampora, a 13-attorney firm in Jericho. The group joined 60-attorney Ruskin in the last two months.

Kuperschmid is now co-chair of the firm’s corporate and securities department. Marullo is co-chair of its financial services, banking and bankruptcy department. The firm’s corporate team represents companies in mergers and acquisitions, financing, private placement, and corporate governance, while its banking department represents commercial lenders in financing and restructuring.

Ruskin managing partner Adam Silvers said he and some of his partners have known Kuperschmid for decades after working with him as co-counsel or as an adversary. “Most of them were known quantities,” he said about the lateral group, “because we worked with them over the years in one respect or another.”

Silvers said the group represents small to mid-market private entities and public companies.

Ruskin has seen a net growth of attorneys this year, according to a search through ALM’s RivalEdge, which tracks attorney moves. The firm has added 11 lawyers in 2016, including the six from SilvermanAcampora, while about five attorneys, mostly associates, have left. Silvers said the firm is seeking further growth, possibly by adding litigation attorneys in the next year.

Anthony Acampora, the partner in charge of SilvermanAcampora, did not return messages seeking comment.
