New York Republican senators with legal backgrounds said on Tuesday that the Court of Appeals’ recent decision to overturn the rape conviction of disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein shows that Chief Judge Rowan Wilson was the wrong choice to lead the Empire State’s top court.
Still angered by the court’s April 25 split decision in the Weinstein case, the contingent of GOP lawyers continued to cast aspersions that Wilson is a political judge, holding a press conference in the Albany Capitol on Tuesday to introduce two bills that they say would curb the court’s powers.
