The New York court system is aligned with the Hochul administration’s plan to address mentally ill people involved in the criminal justice system during the fiscal year that began April 1, Chief Judge Rowan Wilson said Tuesday.

As violent, and even deadly incidents involving mentally ill or homeless persons continue to gain headlines in the Empire State, including in New York City and its subways, the recently enacted $237 billion state budget dedicates $33 million to treat people with mental illness who are justice-involved.
