A Judicial Security Act and stronger New York laws for acts of physical violence and harassment offenses against judges were included in a negotiated state budget deal unveiled Thursday by lawmakers.

The security measure, which was included in the Public Protection and General Government budget bill negotiated by New York’s Democratic governor and the party’s majority in both houses of the legislature, safeguards federal, state, and local court officials and their immediate families by allowing them to enroll in an address confidentiality program.
