The Commercial and Federal Litigation Section (ComFed) just concluded a wonderful and productive 35th anniversary year. Throughout this momentous time, ComFed found numerous ways to honor its distinguished past and plan for a vibrant future.

During the section’s Spring Meeting at The Logan Hotel in Philadelphia, we were thrilled to continue our nearly 20-year long tradition of honoring with the Haig Award a member of the New York legal profession who has rendered distinguished public service. The award, named for ComFed’s first Chair and esteemed commercial litigator, Robert L. Haig, was bestowed on Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for Justice Initiatives, Edwina Richardson-Mendelson. Judge Richardson-Mendelson’s dedication to the improvement of the state court system, including by addressing racial bias and critical access-to-justice issues, made her an ideal recipient.
