A “landmark” New York judicial task force has been put in place to implement reforms to better address behavioral health issues of justice-involved individuals, the court system said in a statement. 

The New York State Judicial Task Force on Mental Illness, which was originally envisioned by Court of Appeals Associate Judge Anthony Cannataro, during his time as acting chief judge, will examine the current landscape and advance improvements to the justice system’s responses to children, youth and adults with behavioral health disorders, the statement, released Thursday, said.
