The U.S. Department of Justice sued the online commerce giant eBay for alleged violations of environmental protection statutes on Wednesday, accusing eBay of selling restricted paint removal products, pesticides and devices that allow cars to evade emissions restrictions.

The complaint, which was filed on behalf of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and signed by attorneys in the DOJ’s Environment and Natural Resources Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, brings claims under the Clean Air Act, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act and the Toxic Substances Control Act.
