Hikma Pharmaceuticals has filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against insurance company Lloyd’s of London, claiming its insurers have failed to honor their product liability insurance and indemnify Hikma as it battles multidistrict litigation relating to its opioid products.

The complaint, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, alleges that Lloyd’s and its subsidiaries have abandoned Hikma as it battles some 900 opioid-related lawsuits variously alleging its products were defective, dangerous, and caused illness, addiction and death.
