Editor’s note: The letter was written in response to the article “City Bar Group Questions Appointment of Former Judge to Monitor Bias,” which the Law Journal published on Aug. 3. 

As a member of the City Bar for over 60 years, I disagree with and am disappointed in its categorical critique of a unique public service being rendered by retired Judge Carmen Beauchamp Ciparick.
