Stronger gun laws that govern New York’s concealed carry regulations while declaring a broad range of “sensitive locations” throughout the state take effect Thursday.

Guns will be off-limits in Times Square, bars, restaurants, libraries, schools, government buildings, hospitals, entertainment venues and other places that have been declared sensitive locations.

The law, a pushback by Gov. Kathy Hochul and the Empire State’s Democratic-controlled legislature to the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent overturn of the state’s longtime pistol permitting process, has resulted in a recent flood of pistol applications throughout the state.
