Sanket Bulsara is sworn in by Eastern District Chief Judge Dora Irizarry as his wife Christine DeLorenzo holds the bible and Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Indian text that became an important work of Hindu tradition.

Sanket Bulsara took the oath of office as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York in the Hon. Jack B. Weinstein Ceremonial Courtroom at the Theodore Roosevelt Courthouse in Brooklyn on Nov. 2. Judge Bulsara, who was appointed on Aug. 28, is the first South Asian-American to serve as a judge within the Second Circuit.

Aruna and Jayshukh Bulsara help their son into his robe after he took the oath of office. Judges applaud as Sanket Bulsara is invested. Bulsara and other judges laugh as Southern District Judge John Koeltl makes remarks.
