The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago — named after Chicago philanthropist and former pediatric care nurse Ann Lurie, who wrote a $100 million check to build the tallest pediatric hospital in the world — opened in June 2012. Lurie replaced the old Children's Memorial Hospital's longtime cramped quarters in Lincoln Park, where it was founded in 1882. Lurie is the largest pediatric care provider in the greater Chicago area with more than 1,200 doctors in 70 pediatric specialties and 2012 operating revenue of $721.8 million.

LEGAL TEAM

Donna Wetzler joined Children's Memorial in 2002 as its first general counsel. She is one of three lawyers in a department that functions "as a traffic cop" for the wide and diverse number of legal issues affecting a growing hospital and health system. Her lieutenants are associate general counsel and general corporate/merger and acquisitions specialist Nancy Borders and assistant general counsel and health care regulatory law expert Reagan Atwood. The team also includes legal and executive assistant Annel Hilgen and corporate governance coordinator Nancy DeDakis.
