Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe: Rob McKenna joins the firm as partner and co-chairman of the public policy group in the Seattle office and will focus on public policy, appellate law and investigations. Previously, McKenna served as attorney general of the state of Washington.

Debevoise & Plimpton (New York): Douglas Buchanan joins the firm as counsel and co-head of the global infrastructure and project finance group in the New York office. He will focus on global project development and project finance. Previously, Buchanan was a partner at the Canadian law firm Davis.

Dickie McCamey & Chilcote (Pitts­burgh): Larry Silverman rejoins the firm as of counsel to the Pittsburgh office and will focus on commercial transactions, employment law, risk management and compliance, and sports and entertainment law. Previously, he was senior vice president and general counsel for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Additionally, William Bresnahan II joins the Pittsburgh office as partner and will focus on real estate litigation. Previously, he was a partner at Hollinshead, Mendelson, Bresnahan & Nixon.

LATERALS

Armbruster Goldsmith & Delvac (Los Angeles): Damon Mamalakis joins the firm as partner and will focus on land use and environmental matters. Previously, Mamalakis was a partner at Latham & Watkins.

Berger Singerman (Miami): Daniel Ponce joins the firm’s dispute-resolution and business, finance and tax teams as partner and will focus on complex business and litigation matters. Previously, Ponce was a name partner at Legon Ponce Fodiman.

Hicks Thomas (Houston): Jeffrey Goldfarb joins the firm as partner in the Dallas office and will focus on commercial and business litigation, real estate disputes and intellectual property cases. Previ­ously, Goldfarb was founding partner at Goldfarb LLP, his own firm.

Kaye Scholer (New York): David Hirsberg joins the firm’s tax and private-clients department as partner in the West Palm Beach, Fla., office and will focus on international tax, succession and charitable planning. Previously, he was a partner at Withers Bergman.

King & Spalding (Atlanta): Adam Sowatzka joins the firm as partner in the Atlanta office and will focus on the environmental aspects of regulatory compliance, corporate transactions and sustainable development. Previously, Sowatzka was a partner at Baker Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz.

McDermott Will & Emery: Clare Ranalli joins the health industry advisory practice group as partner in the Chicago office and will focus on regulatory and transactional matters primarily in the health provider area. Previously, Ranalli was a partner at Holland & Knight.

Rimon (San Francisco): Frank Vargas joins the firm as partner in the Palo Alto, Calif., office and will focus on representing venture and private-equity funds in fundraising and investment activities as well as regulatory matters. Previously, Vargas was a partner at Gray Plant Mooty.

 

Squire Sanders: Barbara Alonso joins the firm’s financial services practice group as partner in the Miami office and will focus on international and dom­estic corporate matters. Previously, Alonso was a partner at Green­berg Traurig.

(St. Louis): David Kaufman joins the firm’s corporate and securities group as partner in the Chicago office and will focus on financial and business matters. Previously, Kaufman was a partner at Duane Morris.
