By now I am fairly convinced that Julie Gao, former Hong Kong partner and rainmaker at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, has a crystal ball.

If you’ve been living under a rock, allow me to serve up a bit of a refresher: Gao had built an entire brand around helping Chinese firms list in the U.S. Over the past three years, until April of this year, Gao advised on 27 successful multimillion-dollar U.S. initial public offerings (IPOs) by Chinese companies. During those years, 102 Chinese companies listed in New York, and she took more than a quarter of that market share. Her 27 deals held a total listing value of $18.5 billion—almost double the $10.1 billion raised by the other 74 issuers combined.
