David Harbach, a former counsel to FBI director James Comey and war crimes investigator, is joining O’Melveny & Myers’ white-collar and corporate investigation group.

The storied prosecutor’s move to O’Melveny is a coup for the firm. Harbach has been in public service for almost 20 years, with experience ranging from the criminal courts of Houston to directing investigations in international courts. Harbach, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, also served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York from 2005 to 2010, and in the Eastern District of Virginia from 2015 to 2018. In between, he was a prosecutor at the Department of Justice, serving as special counsel to Comey during his last 13 months at the DOJ.
