The words “law firm sabbatical” might conjure images of tropical locales and umbrella-topped beverages for some. 

But the sabbatical that San Francisco litigation partner Miriam Kim took from Munger, Tolles & Olson in the latter half of last year saw her move just across the San Francisco Bay to her law school alma mater, the UC Berkeley School of Law. Kim served as a fellow at Berkeley Center for Law & Technology, where she researched how generative artificial intelligence could be harnessed to help close the access to justice gap.
