FireEye Inc. and its lawyers at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati came a step closer on Monday to fending off a securities fraud lawsuit over the company’s 2013 acquisition of Mandiant Corp.

U.S. District Judge Edward Davila of the Northern District of California dismissed the suit with leave to amend, ruling that the alleged misrepresentations by FireEye officials about the progress of the merger amounted to the kind of “puffery” that courts routinely allow.
