Child who fractured skull gets $14K

On Jan. 30, a driver who allegedly disregarded a stop sign and injured his 3-year-old passenger agreed to pay a $14,500 settlement. In 2008, Marianna Smith was in a minivan driven by her uncle, Russell Borchers. Marianna sustained a skull fracture and a scalp laceration. She was airlifted from the scene and hospitalized in an intensive care unit for five days. Her scalp laceration required five stitches to close.
