Four of the eight remaining defendants in a suit challenging Texas’ barratry laws and the speed at which police and courts release citation information have asked a federal court to dismiss the litigation.

The plaintiffs are Dallas firm Sullo & Bobbitt and lawyer Barry L. Bobbitt, which represent DFW-area criminal defendants. They collect information from the courts to send advertisements to misdemeanor defendants, according to their Aug. 5 Original Complaint for Declaratory Judgment and Request for Permanent Injunction in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas in Dallas.
