On Aug. 29, the State Bar of Texas filed a suit against Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott over an open records decision issued by his office. In its petition filed in Travis County, the Bar alleges the AG “failed to apply the proper legal standard” in the decision.

The Bar sought the open records decision in connection with a May 25 request by Julie Oliver, executive director of the Texas Coalition on Lawyer Accountability, for some 40 categories of information. The Bar alleges “most” of the records have been released to Oliver, but the Bar sought an open records decision before releasing others.
