Despite the economic slump, average gross revenue rose by a healthy 16 percent for Global 100 firms in 2007, up from 13 percent in 2006. American and British players continue to dominate The Global 100: Seventy-five of the world’s top-grossing firms are American, and 17 are British – the same breakdown as a year ago. Rounding out this year’s list are four Australian firms and one firm each from Canada, France, The Netherlands, and Spain.

Revenue figures for American firms were obtained from The Am Law 100, except where noted. European firm revenues were obtained from Legal Week in London. Australian and Canadian firms were surveyed by The American Lawyer. Currency conversion rates are annual averages for 2007. Lawyer numbers are average full-time-equivalent numbers for each firm’s most recent fiscal year. Revenue figures are rounded to the nearest $500,000. For details, see “About the Charts“.
