Linklaters has advised Chinese sovereign wealth fund China Investment Corp. on its acquisition of an interest in Thames Water Utilities Ltd., the U.K.’s largest water company.

China Investment Corp. (CIC) paid around $1 billion for the 8.68-percent stake, according to analysts’ estimates reported by Reuters. Thames Water supplies all the public water and wastewater for London, and provides water to several surrounding regions. Since 2006, the company has been owned by an investment consortium led by Australia’s Macquarie Group Ltd.
