The editorial staff of The Legal Intelligencer understands that diversity is a continuing concern in the legal community. This discussion is a follow-up to one we held in 2009 regarding the problems the legal profession faces specifically in recruiting, hiring and retaining minority attorneys.

We invited 10 practitioners to come together and offer their suggestions for concrete solutions to the continuing problem, including what works for their firms/groups and what can be done now to make long-lasting changes. The editors selected the panelists from a number of volunteers (panelists’ bios appear on page 22) and edited the transcript. Excerpts from the roundtable discussion follow:
