Q: Is a law school education a good buy in the current economic environment? Why is law school so expensive?

A: Those are important questions. It is expensive to provide a first-rate legal education and services that enable students to graduate, pass the bar, and to find jobs in a changing legal market. We are a service industry, and in order to train our students well, we need to provide them with the best teachers and scholars possible. We want to ensure that our curriculum is both broad and deep and that we stay abreast of emerging areas of the law. The market for top-notch legal scholars is intensely competitive and those labor costs don’t come cheap. In the present economic environment, BLS is working hard to contain costs without compromising quality, and to obtain more financial support from our loyal alumni and friends.
