Elena Kagan is making steady progress building support among senators as she heads into her third week as a U.S. Supreme Court nominee.

Kagan had met with 34 senators through May 20. She focused her time on the chamber’s few remaining moderates, such as Sens. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), who were complimentary even as they delayed a final decision about confirmation until after Kagan’s hearing.
