LawZam wants to be thought of as speed-dating for the legal world.

The new online video chat service is designed to help potential clients get to know attorneys via the Internet before they retain them. It was launched in June and so far has about 325 attorneys signed up to give free consultations to people looking for lawyers, according to co-founder and attorney Claudio Dunkelman. Practice areas are varied and include personal injury, foreclosures and employment matters. LawZam — which rhymes with “Shazam,” according to Dunkelman — is the third-party facilitator and makes money from advertising on its site.
