In the early hours of a Saturday morning, you might find Paul Luckern manning the guard desk at the U.S. International Trade Commission, buzzing in the teams of lawyers arriving to appear before him in court.

As the ITC’s chief administrative law judge, Luckern is legendary for holding hearings six days a week, sometimes until 10 p.m. Although at age 80, he said he’s trying to stick to regular business hours these days.
