Fewer people applied to law schools for the upcoming academic year, and the number of minority enrollments dropped, according to information released by 19 of the country’s top schools.

Preliminary numbers for the 2005 first-year classes, compared with statistics from last year, indicate a 2% decline in the number of applications to the schools and a decline of 1 percentage point in minority enrollment. At the same time, enrollment of women increased, but by less than 1 percentage point.
