Breaking with over half a century of precedent, Gov. Chris Christie on Monday became the first governor under New Jersey’s modern constitution to refuse to reappoint a sitting state Supreme Court justice.
Christie announced his nomination of Anne Patterson, a partner at Morristown’s Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti, to replace Justice John Wallace Jr., whose seven-year term ends on May 20.
