Consumer Watchdog, after being rebuffed last week in its call for the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling to remove general counsel Fred Bartlit, is now calling for President Obama to step in.

The consumer activist group wrote a letter (pdf) last week to the panel formed to probe the cause of the well blast in April, which killed 11 workers and unleashed almost five million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico — expressing its desire to have Bartlit dismissed on account of what it charged was “a clear conflict of interest.”
