Manhattan federal district court Judge Jed Rakoff is determined to get to the bottom of the Bank of America Corporation disclosure controversy.

Late Thursday, the judge issued an order (pdf) directing the bank and the Securities and Exchange Commission to give him by Feb. 16 the underlying discovery materials — including deposition testimony, e-mails, and other documents — relating to why Bank of America fired its general counsel Timothy Mayopoulos shortly after the bank’s shareholders approved the merger with Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc.
