LOS ANGELES — A California federal judge has thrown out artist Estevan Oriol’s copyright infringement lawsuit against clothing retailer H&M Hennes & Mauritz L.P., ruling that there are significant differences between Oriol’s “LA Fingers” photograph and the image on a T-shirt sold at H&M.

In a four-page order issued Monday, U.S. District Judge Manuel Real determined that there were not enough similarities in the camera angle, lighting, background, film, and placement and sizes of rings in the two photos.
