SACRAMENTO In a "seeming budget paradox," many of California’s trial courts have slashed front-line public services even though state leaders have been "largely successful" in offsetting those cutbacks with funding from other sources, according to a report issued Monday by the Assembly Judiciary Committee.
"There has been a seemingly mysterious disconnect between the types and severity of disturbing service reductions occurring in many of our trial courts and the, thus far, partially mitigated overall funding cuts to the trial courts," the report, authored by the committee’s staff counsel, concludes.
