Philip Harley, name partner at Oakland’s Kazan, McClain, Lyons, Greenwood & Harley, died July 2 after a bout with a brief but especiallyaggressive form of malignant melanoma. He was 61.

Harley tried more than 100 cases to jury verdicts totaling hundreds of millions of dollars in the past two decades, according to his firm. He devoted the latter part of his career to asbestos-related mesothelioma cases.
