SAN FRANCISCO — Upset that the California State Bar’s annual meeting in September is being held at a hotel owned by a major supporter of Proposition 8, the liberal Beverly Hills Bar Association wanted a change of venue.

But any hope of that was shot down Friday when the State Bar Board of Governors decided in an emergency meeting to take no action on the request, effectively keeping the Sept. 10-13 conference at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.
