Technology improves access to information. Modern technology, such as high speed Internet and mobile devices, allows users to access information with the touch of a finger. Improved communication is a benefit of technology. As technology continues to influence courtroom and litigation practices, practitioners will continue to be called upon to be competent attorneys as well as tech-savvy professionals. New York State Courts E-filing (NYSCEF) represents the Unified Court System’s efforts at technological advancement. New York’s e-filing was first authorized in 1999 as a pilot program.1 As the e-filing system has expanded from consensual to mandatory in many courts throughout the State, many practitioners are new to e-filing. Here are some helpful tips for getting started for those practitioners new to NYSCEF.
