With tax charges officially dismissed from the District of Delaware, the U.S. Department of Justice is now further from wrapping up its prosecution of Hunter Biden than it was when charges were first brought two months ago.

After U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika declined to accept a plea agreement on July 26, which would have involved Biden pleading guilty to misdemeanor tax offenses, filings from the government indicate plea negotiations have stalled entirely, eliminating any need for the case to proceed in a venue that was exclusively selected as part of the original plea agreement or for the parties to move forward with the briefing Noreika requested at the plea hearing.
