U.S. Magistrate Judge Alicia Otazo-Reyes of the Southern District of Florida knew at the start of law school that she wanted to become a judge, but she says it was mentiorship that helped her get there.

The jurist spoke Friday at a Hispanic Heritage Month event hosted by the American Bar Association’s Judicial Division, and pointed to her clerkship with U.S. District Judge Shelby Highsmith of the Southern District of Florida.
