Real estate lawyers are a hot commodity across Florida. But in Jacksonville, where there’s plenty of room to built out and not just up, one southeastern Am Law firm snagged a government attorney who knows the city’s land use and zoning laws better than most.

Jason Gabriel, the former general counsel for the consolidated city of Jacksonville — the largest city by area in the U.S. — moved to Burr & Forman’s office in the same city last week. Gabriel joined as partner after working for the city for the past 11 years, including seven years as general counsel.
