A Westport attorney who has brought more than a dozen lawsuits on behalf of clients allegedly injured by “uncommanded” discharges from Sig Sauer’s P320 pistol is now front and center in a defamation suit that claims he published inaccurate videos alleging defects that he says could put police lives in jeopardy.

A key dispute is whether Westport attorney Jeffrey S. Bagnell’s defamation counterclaims can stand against Sig Sauer and CEO Ronald J. Cohen, who issued a news release in response to the claim. U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Meyer of the District of Connecticut previously dismissed Bagnell’s counterclaims and the attorney filed a motion asking the court to reconsider.
