ALBANY – A blogger for The Nation whose contract with the publication was not renewed is not entitled to state unemployment benefits, a New York state appeals court has ruled.

Gregory A. Mitchell’s dealings with his editors as he blogged for the opinion and analysis journal between February 2010 and June 2014 did not constitute an employee-employer relationship, the Appellate Division, Third Department, concluded in denying the benefits.
